Developers' diary, May 7, 2010

We've had a busy month.

In early April, we released the Metro Style pack. We followed that up with Moviestorm 1.3, which included the new Cutting Room and filters, and, of course 3D. A week later, we shipped the first filters pack plus the 1.3.0.1 patch, and then yesterday, we gave you the Dark Romance pack.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, we launched the lifetime subscription and we've been working on those nagging PayPal and issues.

The rest of May should be somewhat less hectic for us. We're aiming to ship the Dining pack in a couple of weeks (assuming, as always, we don't have any last-minute calamities), and we've already started work on Moviestorm 1.3.1. We have several more packs in development, including a second filters pack, but we're not certain exactly in what order those will be finished. We'll have a better idea towards the end of May.

We're also looking at quick and easy solutions to make it easier for you to find your way round the growing number of user-generated packs and mods that are out there. We've seen a huge rise in the number of new mods, peaking at one a day at the end of April. Most of them are free, which means there's a huge selection of extra content instantly available to every Moviestorm subscriber. The programmers are focusing on 1.3.1, so we're just going to do something simple for now.

Nice work on Moviestorm, is getting better every month. BUT, What about developments on placing characters in different levels on the set? I remember seing a video of that future possibility but, after that, there was no word on the subject. This is, for me - since the beggining - one of the weakest points on Moviestorm. Iclone and Antics got it since the begining.

That's still in development. It's nearly working, but it's not good enough yet.

A fantastic month. A lot of cool releases but I think you forgot to mention the most important things. Well, important to me and many other vocal community members.

The new level of communication.

Between the Dev Blog and the Dev Diary vids, there is now a much needed view into the ongoing process of developing and releasing new versions and content.

Nothing may have changed in the day to day of MSL but these glimpses really give us a confidence that things are moving forward at a pace greater than $7.99 a month.

Not to belittle the work of everyone else but this change, IMO, is the best thing that's taken place in the last 1-2 months. Even if the releases slow down, please keep the updates coming.

I agree with Angri. The level of communication and response to feedback has been incredible, and you should all be commended for that!

Also, it's great to see the product growing so much in such a short period of time. The big release of 1.3, along with all the new content that is coming out, and the completion of the business model with the lifetime subscription, it's just amazing to see it all come together. It seems you really have gotten your feet under you as a company and are running at full steam, which makes me happy since you all deserve success.
Someone once said that they figured this was going to be your make-or-break year, and I am really confident that it is going to be the former instead of the latter.
Thank you for listening, and for keeping us updated, and for flooding us with such great content. Keep up the stellar work!
